What You See

If you're looking for an education blogger to make you feel good, look elsewhere. I'm certain there's a plethora of teachers and academics out in the trenches who glow over their students, the testing, and the state of education today, taking the burden of responsibility for the system on their own shoulders - If we just try harder, let every student do what he or she wants when he or she wants, then all students will succeed. Well, I'm not that type of educator.  Nor am I the type of educator who is going to ply teachers with quick fixes or a one-size-fits-all approach to educating a classroom.  I'm also not going to tell parents that the child is always right and bears no responsibility for their own academic performance.  The view that everyone is wonderful and accolades are earned for showing up is not found here.  If you're looking for an educator to assuage your guilt, look elsewhere, I'm not your gal.

If, however, you're looking for some truth about our current education system, about learning, about how to help yourself be a better educator for your class or for your student, then you've come to the right place and I look forward to dialoguing with you on educational issues - issues that are complex and messy.
